Market News

Hello!

We are going to brave a delivery this week, even though the forecast looks a bit uncertain. It certainly looks to be cold! But as long as the heavy and/or freezing precipitation holds off, and the temperatures don’t drop so much that the greens will freeze, in your bags, we will plan on sticking to the Wednesday schedule. Please do stay tuned, however, in case we need to make any changes to the schedule!

We are so pleased to announce a new vendor and product this week! Whispering Creek Mushrooms, a produce and mushroom farm in Gallatin, has a fresh crop of oyster mushrooms coming in! This week will be the first of these offerings – there should be more in the coming weeks! You can read about them on the “Our Growers” page of the website, or on their Facebook page of Whispering Creek Mushrooms.

We have a bit more expansive selection this week of winter loving crops. If you haven’t yet tried the purple sweet potatoes, I highly recommend them!

Also! We love the other vendors that provide us such yummy food year round! Dozen Bakery, Bloomy Rind Cheese, Bear Creek and Wedge Oak Farm meats and eggs! Please support them as well this week!

Thanks so much for all your support, and we look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!

CLG:  Opening Bell: Last Market in January! Mushrooms, Cabbage, Eggs, Broccoli!

Good afternoon!
We will NOT be having market January 29th so stock up this week. The mild winter (so far) means lots of fresh things still coming out of the gardens and fields. And there’s a nice selection of frozen fruit if you want to taste summer during winter. Remember: This is last market of the month.
See you on Friday!

Come early on Friday for the best selection from the EXTRAS table. And save your eggshells throughout the week for the laying hens! :-)

The market is now OPEN for orders. Please check your email about 5 minutes after you place your order to make sure you get an order confirmation. Thank you for being a valuable part of CLG!

Have a great week!
Steve

Baby, it’s cold outside! And our farmers’ vegetables are slim pickings this week, but that doesn’t mean we are without lots of good items to order. Our bakers are still baking, the hens are still laying, and we still have freezers full of locally produced meats. If you’re looking for beef, pork, and poultry items, we have them. We also have milk and honey.

So, hang in there. The weather won’t stay cold forever, and before you know it, the Market will be brimming with lots of Spring produce.

Concord Street Sweets is off the market this week, but will be back next week.

Have a great Sunday, and we’ll see you Wednesday.

Thanks,

Beverly

Champaign, OH:  Changes

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes…
Turn and face the strange…
Ch-ch-changes…
(Changes- David Bowie…insert extreme sad face)

So, first off, don’t let the title of today’s Weblog throw you off your game. The market is not changing, so no worries…and, it’s open, and it’s Sunday, the perfect day to order!! You all have helped us keep this market up there in astounding numbers and sales…we can’t tell you how much we love you in this market family!!

I guess the changes mood I am in encompass my deep sadness of losing David Bowie, this past week, and the changes that I am experiencing, and loving in the Cosmic Charlie world.

I couldn’t let myself really absorb the passing of one of the most talented musicians of our time, until I was with friends on Friday night. We were sitting around their familiar dining table, strewn with snacks, cheeses, salads, olives, wine…I grew up with one of my pals, and I have known my other pal for years and years. We have these impromptu cocktail nights, often, and on Friday, we finally let ourselves listen to all Bowie tunes, and talked about the sadness, about the changes that we have witnessed, over the years, in all of us. How change is good, how change can be bad, or how it can be sad. Change…it’s necessary but always bittersweet. With most changes, a new wind gets ushered in, showing you the light that you may not have seen, otherwise.

Driving home, I thought about our talk, about how change can be scary but also exciting, especially in business decisions. The leap into the new, the leap into the unknown. We all take the chance, and we make a go of it.

That’s how this little market of love came to be. A jump into the unknown, so many years ago. A change to the norm. A mere vision. Good faith, blind faith, and a commitment.

And, look at us, now. How far we have come, how much of a driving force we are in this local struggle to bring nothing but grower/farmer/artisan produced products to you. We have the powerhouse of local, right here, in this little market.

Change is good, change is hard, and sometimes change will drive you mad…but when something becomes a huge success with the change, then you know it was all worth it! Every minute of angst that goes with the change.

And, so, I leave you to order, to think about changes you could be making in your nutrition, your weekly food bill, your loyalty to local. We can take care of all of it for you…

Peace, Love, Good Vibes…
Cosmic Pam

Siloam Springs, AR:  Online Market is Open!

Good morning! I have some exciting news to share. Mica Parks, owner of Greener Pastures Products, will be selling hand made soaps, lotions, scrubs and more through the online market. Watch for her items to be added to the inventory.

What’s on your menu for the week? I’m thinking about stew, soups with home made bone broth, quiche, or pasta with Italian Sasage. You can purchase ingredients for these yummy meals from our farmers!

Enjoy shopping this week and I will see you Saturday!
