The Wednesday Market:  Place Your Orders Now

Good afternoon.

The Wednesday Market is open for orders. Please place your order by 10 p.m. Monday. Orders are ready for pick up between 3 and 6 p.m. Wednesday. Check the website for all of this week’s product listings. Here is the link: https://wednesdaymarket.locallygrown.net/market

The produce the farmers are bringing to market is just beautiful, and our growing season is now in full swing! I am still looking forward to the first fuzzy peach of the season, though, and I cannot wait until the big juicy tomatoes are ripe.

At our house, we are nurturing a tiny plot of earth with one tomato plant (with three green tomatoes!), a squash plant, two stalks of corn, two lima bean sprouts, a cucumber plant, a pepper plant and a squash plant. We have lined the walkway to the front door with pots of herbs including parsley, basil, thyme, rosemary, and sage. We are looking forward to harvesting some of our own veggies. Y’all have heard me say it before, but I’ll say it again and again – I love summer!

Now, a reminder to all of our customers, farmers, vendors, producers, and readers of this weblog: We love hearing from you and are here to answer your questions and help you use the ordering system. Please, please, please, PLEASE when you contact us by email, include your name, email address, and a phone number at the end of your email. I have received several emails lately that did not include any contact information, and so I have not been able to respond. Emails sent to The Wednesday Market are electronically forwarded to me and the other managers, but do not retain the original “from” email address. By including your contact information, you can be sure that we will be able to respond to your questions and concerns.

Thank you for supporting locally grown agriculture and for choosing to purchase locally. We are going to have a great summer!

Thanks,

Beverly

ALFN Local Food Club:  The Market Is Open

I can’t get over the diverse array of items available on the open market this week. Tomatoes are officially here from Green Acres along with cabbages, beets, sweet potatoes and cauliflower. Don’t forgot the fantastic selection of meats available from chicken to goat. Yes sirree bob, this is quite a full market!

We have a new grower to join the market this weekend. KMG is located out in Perry County. They operate a diverse farm with meat, veggies and fruit. They will continue to post new items in the next couple of weeks, but for now, they are promoting their turkey deposits for Thanksgiving. Check out their grower page and facebook page!

We have fun new ALFN merchandise this week. Check out the new ALFN T-shirts, totes and aprons in the ALFN Merchandise section of the market. Proceeds help to fund everything we do! We will also have them out on a table on Saturday so everyone can see them.

Also, you have one more week to put an order in for dry goods before we make our first bulk purchase. Deliver will be at the end of June. Once we get our first delivery, we should be able to start offering these grain products without a long wait period. Check out what we have to offer here: Dry Goods
